Heimir Hallgrímsson, the manager of the Icelandic men's football team, handled the refereeing duties for a youth match for ten-year-olds at Orkumótið football tournament today. Orkumótið is a football tournament for ten and eleven-year-olds which takes place in Heimir's hometown, Vestmannaeyjar (The Westman Islands). Him refereeing at the tournament directly after his return from the World Cup is a testament to Heimir's character. The tournament has been called the World Cup for ten-year-olds and talents such as Kolbeinn Sigþórsson and Aron Einar Gunnarsson have come forth at the tournament.

Heimir returned to Iceland along with the Icelandic squad and staff on the 27th of June, after having battled against Argentina, Nigeria, and Croatia at the World Cup in Russia. He is currently considering his future with the Icelandic national team, and is expected to evaluate his options following his success as Iceland's manager. A decision is expected within a two-week timeframe, and KSÍ (The Football Association of Iceland) has announced that it will offer him an extension if he is willing to continue as manager. Iceland will face off against Belgium and Switzerland in the UEFA Nations League this fall, a new qualification format for the UEFA Euro championship.
