Iceland’s second World Cup match against Nigeria will take place at 15:00 local time on Friday, prompting many businesses and organizations to close early to watch the game, Vísir reports. Capital area police are expecting a sharp increase in traffic around 14:30, as people rush to catch the kick-off.

Although city-run kindergartens are not scheduled to close before kick-off, it seems that many parents are planning to pick up their children early so that families can watch the game together. A few privately run kindergartens have sent parents letters requesting that they pick up their children before 15:00 on game day.

Both of the banks Landsbankinn and Íslandsbanki have announced that they will close at 15:00 on Friday; the Post Office will close at 14:30. The union VR will be closing its offices at the same time and has encouraged local businesses to do the same so that workers will have a chance to watch the match. Many businesses, such as hair salons, experience a higher demand for services during the later part of the day on Fridays, but many salons and barbers have elected to close before game time and start their weekends early, as they don’t expect that many locals will be concerned about their hair this afternoon.
