Four police cars were damaged in a Reykjavík car chase yesterday evening, RÚV reports. The chase began when Reykjavík Capital Area Police spotted a car with no license plate and attempted to stop it. The driver did not obey police signals to pull over, instead driving away at high speed. The police eventually caught up to the vehicle and managed to cut off its escape with police vehicles.

The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old male, was taken to hospital following the incident. His injuries are believed to be minor. The young man was questioned by police, but no further information about the case has been released.

Two police vehicles are unroadworthy following the incident, as well as the young man’s car.
