Icelandic Football Audience

The Icelandic men’s soccer team won a decisive victory in a friendly match against Indonesia yesterday, RÚV reports. The final score was 6-0.

All of the match’s goals were scored by players who had never before scored a goal during international play. Moreover, the first goal of the match, scored just after the 30th minute, was made by one of three Icelandic players to be debuting in an international match, Andri Rúnar Bjarnason. The other two players having their first international start were Mikael Anderson and Samúel Kári Friðjónsson.

Right after halftime, Kristján Flóki Finnbogason scored with a header after a free kick from Albert Guðmundsson. The game was then paused at the 55th minute due to a sudden thunderstorm, but was able to resume about fifteen minutes later. Óttar Magnús Karlsson brought the score to 3-0 at the 65th minute, followed by goals scored by Tryggvi Hrafn Haraldsson, Hjörtur Hermannsson, and Hólmar Örn Eyjólfsson.

Iceland will play its last friendly against Indonesia again on Sunday. All of yesterday’s goals can be watched on the RÚV website, here.
