Six adults and a small child were taken to the health clinic in Stykkishólmur yesterday after a passenger boat accident just east of Stykkishólmur, West Iceland, RÚV reports. The boat had begun to take on water when help arrived.

The boat was stranded on a shoal about three kilometres east of Stykkishólmur near Skoreyjar. The captain had put the passengers on board a lifeboat before assistance arrived.

The seven passengers were British, and one sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Many groups assisted in the rescue, including police, search and rescue teams, fishermen, firemen, Icelandic Red Cross staff.
