Icelander Elísabet Gunnarsdóttir, former coach of Valur women’s football team in Iceland, has been named coach of the year in Sweden’s top women’s football league, where she coached the team Kristianstad, RÚV reports.
Elísabet and her team ended the season in fifth place, after narrowly avoiding relegation last year. Elísabet recently signed a two-year contract with the club, meaning she will have been with them for a decade when the contract ends.
Icelander Guðbjörg Gunnarsdóttir, goalkeeper for Djurgården, has been nominated as best goalkeeper of the year in the same league. The winner is yet to be announced.
