A swarm of jellyfish numbering in the hundreds washed ashore in the Sjáland area of Garðabær, a town just south of Reykjavík, yesterday. Jón Haukur Baldvinsson, a long-time resident of the area, told RÚV that since he had previously never even seen a single jellyfish in that area, the sight of hundreds of them was quite a surprise. Jón noticed the unusual sight while out on a walk with his daughter, and both of them agreed that the sight seemed ominous, accompanied by a strong odor.
